Ricky Gene Powell and the Boys of Greenwood Glen hail from the mythic glen in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle, and they’re playing at Bainbridge Bluegrass Festival, July 27, 2013.
Exploring the roots of American music, their deep commitment and passion for the acoustic-based traditions of folk, country, Irish, and bluegrass makes for an exciting blend, a vivid experience of lively, rugged music played by musicians who want you to join them in raucous celebration.
With a repertoire as wide as the open prairie, the Boys will have you clapping your hands, stomping your feet and howling along! They play FolkLife, Own N. Thistle, Mulleady’s, Columbia City Theatre, Vashon Island Acoustice Music Festival, University Street Fair, and many more.
Band members are:
Ricky Gene Powell (Vocals, Mandolin, Banjo, Dobro, Accordian)
Peter Rothbart (Guitar, Vocals)
Dan Good (Upright Bass)
Jon Parry (Fiddle)
They say their top musical influences are Hank Williams Sr, Hank 3, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Del McCoury, Jerry Garcia, Richard Thompson and, of course, Ireland.

Danny (Pops) is a fiddler, but these days he's keeping time on the bass, Terrie (Mom, Extraordinaire) plays rhythm guitar and does all the band Mom stuff...
